ropa y otras cosas.

El
mercado es los martes y sábados.
Don’t forget, the Spanish
never say my clothes (mi ropa), always la ropa. They assume if you’re
talking about the clothes, they are yours. If you want to talk about someone
else’s clothes say:
La ropa
de Eric, la ropa de ella, La ropa de los niños, etc. Ropa = clothes, it is already
plural.
Let’s look at some items of
clothing in Spanish
El traje - suit
La falda - skirt
Las botas – boots. What do you think las botas de aqua will be?
Los zapatos - shoes
Los zapatos deportivos - trainers
El cinturón - belt
Los calcetines – socks. Medias (in Ecuador) one sock = calcetín
o media
La camisa – shirt
La blusa - blouse
Los pantalones - trousers
El jeans – jeans (also pantalones vaqueros,
literally cowboy trousers)
Los calzones – underpants
Las bragas - knickers
La chompa - jumper (may be South American)
El jersey – jumper (a woolly jumper would be un jersey de
lana)
La chaqueta - jacket
El abrigo - coat
La pijama - pyjamas
La bata de baño - bathrobe
La camiseta - vest or T-shirt
El chaleco - waistcoat
El cárdigan - cardigan
Las medias - stockings
El sostén - bra
El vestido - dress

To say you like something … Me gusta (literally, it pleases me).

Necesito una talla dieciséis reino unido. ¿Qué
es eso en España?
So
we have used two words for size talla and tamaño. What’s the difference? Both mean size and
are, to a certain extent, interchangeable. Use tamaño
for general sizes and talla for a specific size
(especially one where a value is attached – size 14). For shoes, use numero, not talla or tamaño.

For
women’s clothing, add 28 to the UK size to generate the Spanish size. So, a UK
size 12 becomes a Spanish size 40.

For
waist, neck and inside leg, you’ll need to know your size in centimetres. For
shoes, you’ll need to know Euro sizes.
Really,
it’s best to try it on.
¿Puedo probarme esto? In Spanish and Go, they said: ¿Me la puedo probar? What’s the difference? None, both
are fine. Don’t forget to agree with the gender of the noun.
How
would you say: can I try that on? Can I try these on? Can I try those on?

In
certain situations in Spanish, using the present tense to say what you’ll do in
the future is OK. This is perfectly good grammar:
