Further Copeland Update ...

Received this note in a follow-up e-mail from Cate Harding, Community Capacity Manager: "I will absolutely guarantee that the centre will remain open even if it means that I and my team come and work from the centre until a new management group is in place. It is really very unfortunate that we are in this position but we are doing everything we can to ensure there will be as little disruption to centre users as is possible. Anything the regular users can do to help will be greatly appreciated."

It's a very positive guarantee and several steps up from a "use our best endeavours" term which we had earlier in the day. Perhaps the onslaught of angry U3A members has had the desired effect?

Antonio Machado Antonio Machado or, to give him his full name, Antonio Cipriano José María y Francisco de Santa Ana Machado Ruiz was one of Spain’s best-known poets. He is famous for his poetry describing the beauty of the Spanish countryside and also his love poems. He had his first poems published in 1901 and his first book of poetry in 1903.
